How to start therapy when you've been putting it off

Step one: send the email. Don't wait until you have the right words.

Most therapists, including us, offer a free 15-minute consultation. You don't have to explain everything. You don't need a diagnosis. You don't need to be in crisis.

If the first person you talk to isn't the right fit, that's information — not failure. A good practice will help you find someone who is.

The brave part isn't being articulate on the call. The brave part is making the call.
